Joining the Charlottetown Dragon Boat Festival is a great way for groups to build teamwork while supporting a meaningful cause. See below for team info and entry criteria
TEAM COMPOSITION
Each team will need 14 paddlers and 1 drummer. A steersman will be provided for each team; however, you may choose to bring your own steersman, provided they hold a valid steersman certificate. Race officials reserve the right to replace any steersman who is deemed unsafe or causes delays. Additionally, be sure to give your team a creative and identifiable name, such as Fighting Dragons- ABC Company

RACE CATEGORIES
Mixed, each team must have a MINIMUM of 4 women paddlers on the roster.
REGISTRATION FEE
2026 Team Registration Fees TBD.
ELIGIBILITY
Must be 16 years or older. Wearing of life jacket is mandatory at all times, must sign a waiver and release form, medical clearance required for participants with known condition.
SKILL REQUIREMENT
No prior paddling experience is required. This event is beginner-friendly. Just bring your enthusiasm and team spirit! The winning team will be the one that paddles with the best collective rhythm and speed.
TRAINING PROVIDED
Registered teams are given 1-hour scheduled practice session together with an official dragon boat coach per team prior to race day.
UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT
Matching shirts or jersey colors per team are optional but highly encouraged. ALL EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED BY DRAGONBOATPEI, INCLUDING PADDLES AND LIFE JACKETS.
CODE OF CONDUCT
All participants must follow the event's code of conduct. Unsportsmanlike behavior may result in disqualification.
